Broadway Shows and Previews

The drama centers on a wealthy Republican family attempting to kick sand over its past. According to the show's producers, Lincoln Center Theater, the play deals with a once–promising novelist who "returns home to Palm Springs after a six year absence to celebrate Christmas with her parents, her brother, and her aunt, and announces that she is about to publish a memoir dredging up a pivotal and tragic event in the family's history – a wound they don't want reopened."

The Off–Broadway production of this play was very well–received (Newsday called it "a smart, juicy, gorgeously written play") and Tony–winner Stockard Channing received raves for her portrayal of a Reaganite Republican in denial. Joining Ms. Channing in the Broadway production will be Stacy Keach and Thomas Sadoski, reprising their roles as father and son, Oscar–nominee Rachel Griffiths as the young writer, and Tony–nominee Judith Light as the acerbic, alcoholic aunt. Joe Mantello, the Tony–winning director of "Wicked," will direct on Broadway, as he did Off–Broadway.
