Finian's Rainbow: Magical Opening Night Video

By Leora Kanner, Broadway Magazine

It's another exciting red carpet ride, as Broadway.tv and Broadway Magazine check out and chat with the stars on Opening Night of "Finian's Rainbow." With strong reviews and a classic score, this revival will likely prove very lucky for Broadway, indeed.

Many of the attendees, such as David Hasselhoff, gushed about the show's vibrant score. He says that show had the "most beautiful songs." The Hoff is in New York City working on a new album called "The Romantics."

Extraordinary Broadway Renaissance man Tommy Tune, who can sing, dance, act and paint, similarly was excited for Finian's Rainbow music! "Every song that comes up is a winner...I love the score to this show I really do," beamed Mr. Tune

Rue McClanahan, an actor, came to support Carrie White who is "one of my best friends." Abigail Breslin and Alison Pill, who will both be appearing in The Miracle Worker, came in support of their producer David Richenthal who also produced Finian's Rainbow. Breslin was "excited to see" the show and Alison said "I love so much of the music and I love Cheyenne Jackson."

Other stars came in support of other people involved in the production. Ruby Dee, legendary actress, remembers seeing the show the first time it opened. Now it is an "exciting time" for her because her son is in the current production!

Television stars walked the red carpet in support of the musical as well. Bryan Batt, from ABC's Mad Men said "it's fun, it's never been revived before." He thinks its great that Broadway is "finding these great old shows and breathing new life into them...making them relevant. I can't wait to see what they've done."

Tony Plana of 'Ugly Betty' said that "one of the great things about being New York" is that he gets to "interact with our theater family." He also praised the cast of "Finian's Rainbow" saying "The show has really benefited from all the wonderful Broadway talent that we have here." Becky Newton, also of Ugly Betty, said that she's "excited. It's a great night in New York."
