Roundabout's Tin Pan Alley Rag
By Broadway Magazine Staff

The upcoming musical The Tin Pan Alley Rag by Mark Saltzman features the ragtime music of icons Irving Berlin and Scott Joplin. Located on 28th Street, between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, Tin Pan Alley is one of those legendary streets (or alleys) forever fixed in the imagination of American popular culture as something of a sweatshop for popular music, with artists working tirelessly to create the next great tune.
Saltzman's musical addresses the relationship between Berlin and Joplin, and centers on Joplin's opera Treemonisha, which eventually arrived on Broadway in 1975. Enjoy these pictures from the new Roundabout Theatre Production that opens officially Off Broadway on July 14 and runs through September 6th. Directed by Stafford Armina, the production stars include Randy Aaron, Michael Boatman, Derrick Cobey, Jenny Fellner, Rosena M. Hill, James Judy, Mark Pinnick, Tia Speros, Michael Therriault, Idara Victor... and a piano too, we suspect.
