Classic Theater Story Revival

This week, The Actor’s Fund brought out some big guns to participate in a benefit reading of the classic screenplay for All About Eve. It is a showbiz tale of the first order, and judging by the response of those who attended, the brilliant words of the text more than merit another visit to the classic story. According to Liz Smith writing in Variety, the speculation centers on a new film version. However, the A-List of stars at the reading could just as easily spur speculation about a Broadway version of Joseph Mankiewicz’s classic screenplay It is a theatre story, after all.
