The eleventh annual adopt-a-thon is this Saturday July 11th.  The event will feature pets from several New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies, including A Cause for Paws, Adopt A Boxer Rescue, Animal Haven, Anjellicle Cats Rescue and the ASPCA just to name a few.

BROADWAY BARKS! will have an action of autographed memorabilia including a silent auction of “Autographed Hounds of Broadway,” these hounds are one-of-a-kind stuffed dogs are signed by the casts (with some dressed by the wardrobe departments). The money raised money for the Picasso Veterinary Fund (also o-founded by Tyler Moore and Peters) of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. The Picasso Veterinary Fund pays for extraordinary medical care for sick and injured dogs and cats who come in to Animal Care & Control of NYC. The animals then are transferred to shelters and rescues.

Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters will be hosting with help from Ashanti (The Wiz), Jayne Atkinson (Blithe Spirit), Stephanie J. Block (9 to 5),  Gavin Creel (Hair), Hope Davis (God of Carnage), Christine Ebersole (Blithe Spirit), Rupert Everett (Blithe Spirit), Tovah Feldshuh (Irena’s Vow), Sutton Foster (Shrek), Angela Lansbury (Blithe Spirit), Michael Mastro (West Side Story), Judy McLane (Mamma Mia!), Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages), Audra McDonald (Twelfth Night), Becki Newton (Ugly Betty), David Hyde Pierce (Accent on Youth), Alice Ripley (Next to Normal), Bryce Ryness (Hair), and Christopher Sieber (Shrek).

This year’s festivities are produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and sponsored by the ASPCA and PEDIGREE® with additional sponsorship by the New York Times. They will take place this Saturday, July 11h in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). Peters will have a signing her New York Times Best Seller, Broadway Barks, at 1:00 p.m. The festivities will begin at 3:30 p.m. and celebrity presentations of pets will begin at 5:30 p.m.
