Shrek The Musical Seattle Secret Details Emerge…
Dreamworks Musical Shrouded in Mystery
The highly-anticipated Broadway run of Dreamworks Shrek The Musical takes a large step forward when the first previews of the show begin in Seattle August 14. With all the popularity of the Shrek film series, success for the show on Broadway could be enourmous. Nothing, however, is certain. That is why there has been considerable effort made to keep everything about the show private. Perhaps the biggest secret detail is that everything about the show is a secret detail. Well, in an exclusive article by Gianni Truzzi for SeattlePI.com the drip of details about the production begin to emerge. Truzzi outlines how secretive the production has been, but there are some cracks to peek through in his article.
- Six-foot plus actor Christopher Sieber plays Lord Farquaad. “I’m going to be 4 foot 11,” he is quoted as telling Truzzi.
- The production might contain some back story. “What does Fiona do in that tower? How did Shrek get on that swamp? These things aren’t in the movies, and they allow us to crack the story open and go a little deeper,” Truzzi quotes writer David Lindsay-Abaire.
- Playing the character Shrek, Brian D’arcy James will likely be green. That wouldn’t be a shocker, but you never know.
Outside of that, not too much more to say, except that the cast seems to be a good job of keeping a secret. We’ve got a call in to Seattle Sal, and hope to provide more details later. Here is the link to the article.
