Rob Marshall On Directing Nine - Video Interview
Broadway.tv’s 9 on Nine Series
In directing Nine, Rob Marshall has created one of the best films of the year with a group of the best actors in Hollywood. With names like Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Daniel Day-Lewis and Nicole Kidman (to just name a few) Nine is packed with an all star cast. Marshall told us that throughout the audition process, it became evident that the actors he chose embodied and claimed their individual characters.
Marshall also directed the movie version of Chicago. We asked him why he thought movie musicals resonate with audiences so well. Marshall says that movie musicals have the ability to lift audiences and have greater impact (when done well) than normal Hollywood action films.

Dear Mr. Marshall,
I wrote “Black Stockings” in memory of my famous burlesque dancer grandmother, Gay Dawn. (You can Google her as Gay Dawn/Burlesque) Check me out performing with my band on YOUTUBE at SerinaDawn/Black Stockings. My dad, Mark Hays, like you is also from Milwaukee, Ws. and he operates the world’s largest robot, robosaurus (robosaurus.com) so I’ve got the bloodlines lined up.
Trust me, if you’re looking for your next project, I can deliver, Serina.
