Kerry Washington In Movies, On Broadway In RACE
“[Patrick Wilson] is one of my heroes…”
Born the Bronx Kerry Washington has been close to Broadway for years. Soon Washington will make her Broadway debut in David Mamet’s RACE. We interviewed Washington this week at the RACE press meet and greet where we learned Washington has been very busy in recent months. While RACE is on Broadway, Washington will also have four movies released, Mother and Child, A Thousand Words, Night Catches Us and Details.
Washington says that she had been looking to return the stage for a while and thought RACE was a perfect show to make a Broadway debut in. Washington said she was inspired to be on Broadway by watching Patrick Wilson in All My Sons. Washington says that Wilson is one of her heroes as he balances both a successful theater and film career. Washington and Wilson both starred in the film Lakeview Terrace in 2008.
We asked Washington what advice she has for young actors. Watch the video to see what Washington had to say about rejection and the word “no.”
