Jessica Hecht & Santino Fontana From Broadway Flop To Star Broadway Show
Actor’s Luck Takes A Dramatic Turn
Jessica Hecht and Santino Fontana were 2 of the actor’s who saw a Broadway dream go up in smoke in the failed Broadway show Bright Beach Memoirs, but a twist of fate has both actor’s back on Broadway in A View From The Bridge in record time!
A New York Times article came out yesterday that interviews both actor’s as they talk about the dramatic Broadway journey that has brought them from a Broadway flop to a Broadway show starring alongside moviestars Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson in Arthur Miller’s A View From The Bridge.
Jessica Hecht in her own words, “So that weekend I called my agent and said, ‘This is so awful of me, but I love “A View From the Bridge,” and I think Greg Mosher should come see our show before it closes.’
Greg Mosher had seen the show Hecht and Fontana were in and he liked both of the actors he explains, “I’d seen a lot of good actors for both parts, but we just hadn’t felt ready to pull the trigger…It was actually John Lee Beatty, who did the sets for ‘Brighton Beach’ and who was now working on ‘View From the Bridge,’ who had said to me that it was too bad we couldn’t get Santino for our play, that he was the kind of guy we were looking for as Rodolpho.”
Fontana expressed his disbelief stating, “This has been one of the weirdest and strangest professional experiences of my life…I had such feelings of sadness and anger after ‘Brighton Beach’ fell apart. And then on Monday, the morning after it closed, I got a call from my agent that Greg Mosher wanted to see me.”
This chain of events set into motion what has now landed Mr. Fontana and Ms. Hecht roles in A View From The Bridge, with Hecht playing Beatrice and Fontana playing Rodolpho.
