Broadway Transformed With Musical and Free Ribs
BROADWAY MAGAZINE—We’ve already professed our complete love for the new Broadway Promenade when the idea was first put forward and approved. This weekend, the dream is a reality and the reality keeps getting dreamier. Starting on Sunday, the heart of Times Square will be closed for traffic, and tables and chairs will transform the once congested center into a true promenade. It will be pedestrians only enjoying the epic scale and magic of the heart of Broadway all summer long.
To celebrate this remarkable transformation, the Times Square Alliance will host the first ever full length motion picture event on The Great White Way. It will be a musical, of course. On The Town will play at 12:00 on May 25. The showing is made possible by Turner Classic Movies and Clear Channel Spectacolor, who will be broadcast on Clear Channel’s “SpectacolorHD” video screen on 47th and Broadway.
Starting early in the morning, beach chairs will be set out across Times Square as the space is transformed into what will become the greatest cultural plaza in history eventually. Visitors can take advantage of the epic transformation all summer long…and hopefully well beyond that.
Oh yeah….the free ribs. Virgil’s (that’s the restaurant, not the poet) will be providing free food at the Times Square Information Center on 7th Avenue between 46th and 47th. Stop by and get your free Broadway Magazine there too…we know Virgil (the poet) would.
