A Fonda Broadway Farewell

BROADWAY MAGAZINE – She came. She saw. She blogged. She conquered. Jane Fonda ended her Broadway run in 33 Variations and has earned a Tony nomination for her effort. Ms. Fonda’s performance was nothing short of breathtaking, and she elevated a script that was problematic into something that was infinitely watchable. With a strong cast and excellent direction from Moises Kaufman, 33 Variations has earned multiple Tony nods. Notably, Ms. Fonda has made quite an impression on Broadway audiences. Let’s hope she’ll come back to the stage again soon. As for what Ms. Fonda felt as the show closed…we’ll defer to her blog in which she writes:

I am not as sad as I expected because a) I sense we’ll do it again somewhere; b) I couldn’t keep going despite my desire because of the pain of my knee and c) I am so tired.

We hope she’ll be back to Broadway soon. Would she ever direct? Check out show video right here. Also, if you have checked out Ms. Fonda’s blog, give it a look. Well worth the time. Photo by Joan Marcus.
