Today In Broadway History: Musical Star Born February 18

 Broadway Movie Musical Legend

BROADWAY MAGAZINE-
A Broadway movie musical star was born on this day in 1956. So, Happy 56th birthday, John Travolta! The star of Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Pulp Fiction was born on February 18, 1956 in Englewood, New Jersey. Having made musicals and dancing cool, the Hairspray star will always be an icon of the movie musical genre.

His role as badboy Danny Zucko in
Grease
helped return the movie musical to prominence. Before his film career took off, though, he worked briefly on Broadway, appearing in the ensemble of Over Here!
and as a replacement for Doody in the national touring production of Grease.
You can catch future John Travoltas in the current tour of Grease with former American Idols Ace Young and Taylor Hicks.
