Today In Broadway History: Clothing Optional February 17

BROADWAY MAGAZINE- Keep your pants on please. On February 17, 1971, the racy musical revue Oh, Calcutta!
transferred to Broadway’s Belasco Theatre from the Off-Broadway Eden Theatre. The 1976 revival of the show was briefly the longest-running show in Broadway history and remains the longest-running theatrical revue of all time.

The show ran for nearly 6,000 performances on Broadway. It was created by esteemed critic Kenneth Tynan, who was fully clothed during the entire run of the show.

Having eliminated the nudity from Noel Coward’s Present Laughter, rumor is that the Roundabout is set to revive Oh! Calcutta in a fully clothed version as well.
