Ralph Fiennes’ Checkhov plus Coriolanus and Harry Potter
Broadway and London Star Stays With Stage
Ralph Fiennes continues to admirably follow his passion for classical theatre and great plays with even more exciting news coming out of London. Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is sharing the stage with Richard Griffithson Broadway in Equus. Fiennes is another member of the Potter Film Tribe, and news is that not only will he star in a new production of Uncle Vanya in 2010 in London, but also that he is in the process of directing a film version of Shakespeare’s brilliant political and war play Coriolanus, few of Shakespeare’s plays seem as modern as Coriolanus with its wry insight on the artifice of politics and the mob. Very exciting news. The Vanya production will be part of a revival of Britian’s famous H.M. Tennant (an old theatrical production company made famous by Binkie Beaumont). Of course, if you need a US Chekhov fix, upcoming is the The Seagull on Broadway with Fiennes’ English Patient co-star Kristin Scott Thomas. The report comes from the UK’s Daily Mail.Oh…also Fiennes will be playing Oedipus upcoming as well. Thank you, Ralph.
