There is a potential presidential campaign issue brewing that neither Republican John McCain nor Democrat Barack Obama anticipated. What is the candidates favorite Broadway show? The under-explored topic reached the headlines today when it was revealed that John McCain’s favorite song is ABBA’s Dancing Queen, according to a list in Blender Magazine. Well, in Aspen today, Senator John McCain discussed the matter further. According to an article in the Los Angeles Times:
“A lot of my taste in music stopped about the time I impacted a surface-to-air missile with my own airplane and never caught up again,” McCain said. “Now look, everyone says, ‘I hate ABBA. ABBA, how terrible, blah, blah, blah.’ How come everybody goes to ‘Mamma Mia’? . . . Everybody goes; they’ve been selling out for years.”
See that girl, watch that scene, diggin’ the Republi-Queen. So, who doesn’t love Mamma Mia!? Of course not all is rosy on Broadway, lest we forget, McCain’s campaign ran into a little bump with the Broadway production of Jersey Boys . We look forward to hearing what Senator Barack Obama’s favorite Broadway musical is as well. Senator, let us know your favorite show when you have a minute. Thanks.
