David Mamet Scores Hat Trick Julia Stiles Is In
Oleanna Headed to Broadway
Is there a David Mamet play not being produced on Broadway this season? Of course we have HBO Entourage star Jeremy Piven, Elisabeth Moss and Raul Esparza in David Mamet’s Speed-The-Plow (see the inside interviews here), and there is Haley Joel Osment, Cedric The Entertainer, and John Leguizamo in David Mamet’s American Buffalo. Now this! News today via the NY Post that Julia Stiles is headed to Broadway in the Mamet two-person pay Oleanna. It was a play Stiles did in London a few years back. No date set for Broadway, but Stiles is excited, telling the Post:
“I’m coming to Broadway. I’m so excited… It’s where I started. I did shows off-Broadway. I did plays at La Mama. And I’m now going to do David Mamet’s Oleanna. The one project I most want to do.
Perhaps we could get a production of A Life In The Theatre or Glengarry Glen Ross as well. Aquarius be damned, this is the dawning of the age of David Mamet. Welcome to Broadway, Julia.
