Desire Star Makes It Through The Rain

BROADWAY MAGAZINE – While the Wall Street bankers used the inclement weather on Sunday as an excuse to snub President Obama, perhaps next time the bankers should call Cate Blanchett if they need to be somewhere important. The celebrated film star is currently appearing at BAM in A Streetcar Named Desire. This past Sunday, Ms. Blanchett was late for her Sunday matinee as she was driving in from Connecticut during the inclement weather.

Though she had an option to cancel the performance, Ms. Blanchett decided instead to drive on through the wet and icy conditions, and the show did go on (a few hours late) according to the New York Times. She even made an apologetic curtain speech.

The success of Ms. Blanchett in Streetcar has created much buzz about a Broadway run. She could well outsell Jude Law + Hugh Jackman + Daniel Craig combined…and that is why Tennessee Williams is smiling in this picture (at least one of the reasons, we guess).
