Broadway’s Spider-Man in Trouble

Will Spider-Man Still Open On Broadway?

BROADWAY MAGAZINE – The Spider-Man Non-Musical musical Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark is reportedly on the ropes. According to Gordon Cox in Variety the workers transforming the Hilton theatre for the mega-millions musical have been put on hiatus. Over at the New York Post, Michael Reidel is reporting more info, including the fact that Julie Taymor is the Green Gobbling director devouring the multi-million dollar budget (over $45 million). If the producers really want to transform the Hilton interior for the show, we recommend Glades Herp Farms, where they can purchase a boatload of spiders and let them run loose inside the Hilton. Come February, the interior will truly be transformed.

Reps for the show say that it will still open in February, but Mr. Reidel doesn’t think so. It will be either the Curse Of The Hilton Theatre confirmed (remember the fates of Young Frankenstein, The Pirate Queen, Hot Feet, and Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang) or one of the greatest triumphs in recent Broadway history. There is still time to cast Adam Lambert as Spidey…or perhaps Daniel Radcliffe?!
