With the closing of RENT today, and the recent milestone by Mamma Mia! it makes sense to check in with the record keepers to get the score on who is where in the “longest runs on Broadway” scorecard. Phantom of the Opera continues to be the Lou Gehrig of Broadway. However, with shows like the revival of Chicago, Mamma Mia!,  and The Lion King still playing the race is on. Also don’t forget shows like Hairspray, which will soon crack into the top 16 as well. Thanks to the Internet Broadway Database and the Broadway League for the current stats.
