“Three Sisters” Sells Out Entire Run
Classic Stage Company Produces a Hit
Classic Stage Company’s new production of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters sold out its entire engagement through March 6 within 24 hours of its opening this past Thursday, February 3rd. Directed by Austin Pendelton, the production featres Maggie Gyllenhaal, Josh Hamilton, Jessica Hecht, Marin Ireland, Juliet Rylance and Peter Sarsgaard.
A play that deals with the decay of the privileged class in Russia, and the search for meaning in the modern world, it follows the lives of the Prozorov family. The three sisters Olga (Jessica Hecht), Masha ( Maggie Gyllenhaal), and Irina (Juliet Rylance) were raised in the refined world of Moscow, but due to unfortunate circumstances, find themselves stuck in seemingly uncultured rural Russia. Always dreaming about going back, this play explores the themes of desire and thwarted dreams.
