Taylor Swift loves Broadway performing “Tonight” from Broadway’s West Side Story at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards!
Swift sings with Cobra Starship, Leighton Meester, Katy Perry, Ne-Yo, Russell Brand
MTV News has reported today that Taylor Swift will be performing the song “Tonight” from Broadway’s hit show West Side Story currently starring 2009 Tony Award Winner Karen Olivo.
Swift along with Cobra Starship featuring WB Gossip Girls star Leighton Meester, Katy Perry, Ne-Yo and MTV VMA host Russel Brand, are all shooting there own versions of “Tonight” that will be meshed into one awesome video.
Swift say’s of the “Tonight” performance and her entourage of stars, “It’s gonna be me and a bunch of artists, and we’re shooting individual versions of the song…mine is shot in a vintage old cab.”
Country Star Swift loves Broadway, the singer gushed to MTV, “When we were in the studio recording, it I just kind of went all out — all show tunes. I am obsessed with Broadway…so I was pretty excited about getting to sing this song.”
Taylor also says, “My version of ‘Tonight’ was pretty theatrical, because I listened to the song and I heard the song and I’m just like, ‘There’s no way to do this and not play it up,’ ”

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards air live in New York City(yep it’s back in the Big Apple) September 13th at 9pm EST.
