Broadway Star Jim Gaffigan to Guest on Late Show
“That Championship Season Star “Chats with Letterman
Making his Broadway debut with That Championship Season, Jim Gaffigan will chat about his upcoming role tomorrow night on The Late Show with David Letterman. The show will be aired Wednesday, February 2nd between 11:35PM - 12:35AM on CBS.
That Championship Season stars Brian Cox, Jim Gaffigan, Chris Noth, Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland. Jason Miller’s Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning play is directed by Gregory Mosher. Preview performances begin on Wednesday, February 9th, with an official opening set for Sunday, March 6th at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street). This is a limited engagement through Sunday, May 29th, 2011.
That Championship Season made its debut at the Public Theater in May 1972 before moving to Broadway’s Booth Theatre, where it went on to win the Pulitzer Prize, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play and the Tony Award for Best Play for the 1973 season. It played a total of 944 performances on and off Broadway.
A drama about the promise of youth, That Championship Season follows the story of four former high school basketball stars and their coach at their 20 year reunion. While three of the players have found small-town success, the fourth has never found his way, and as the men come together for reunion, tensions boil over.
