BROADWAY MAGAZINE – News that 39 Steps will end its Broadway run in January. For comedy fans, Broadway’s 39 Steps was a favorite. The inventive comedy spun from a Hitchcock film which turn was spun from a British novel. At the center of all incarnations is Richard Hannay. Think of Hannay as the father of James Bond…or maybe the grandfather. As Caitlin Maggs shows in her excellent feature on the show, 39 Steps is one versatile spy franchise. Check it out here.
With Daniel Craig (who plays James Bond on screen) starring in A Steady Rain on Broadway with Hugh Jackman, one must wonder if Broadway isn’t big enough for two iconic British spies. Of course, we were wondering if Daniel Craig’s moustache in A Steady Rain is an homage to Richard Hannay too? You never know.
