Actor Talks About Broadway Roots

17051729networkglobal1125200933532pm.jpg

Matthew Morrison is TV’s newest golden boy, he is starring in a hit tv show Glee, and he recently sat down with Parade Magazine to talk about all things Glee and his amazing Broadway career.

Many may not know that Matthew Morrison has had a ten year career on Broadway with South Pacific being his latest show before being whisked away to Hollywood to star in the hottest show on tv right now, Glee!

Morrison talked to Parade’s Robert Masello recently about being recognized everywhere he goes since he started on Glee, “This is certainly the most recognized I’ve ever been in my life, but that isn’t necessarily the most positive thing. I don’t like to go out to parties or clubbing, and I kind of like my anonymity. More people saw the pilot of Glee than saw me in my entire 10-year career on Broadway. But people feel more of a connection to you because they see you in their living rooms.”

Morrison also goes onto talk about his life growing up and what that was like for him with parents that were away alot, “My mom was an RN and my dad was a midwife, and they were working all the time. I had this wild imagination, and I’d come home after school and stage these whole scenes with my toy knights. I was really lucky when I stumbled into theater. It felt great living in someone else’s skin….I’m still more comfortable performing than I am talking to you right now.”

Rejection as an actor in getting any sort of role is very common and Morrison explains how he learned to deal with rejection and where his confidence comes from, “I’ve had way more rejections than I’ve had jobs, but I don’t consider it rejection anymore—I consider it meeting the people who will take you to the next step. At least I’ve made an impression in their minds.” On confidence, “It’s a front!…Some performers say it’s so easy, so natural, but I think that’s bull. I still get nervous, but fear is one of the great things that motivates me to be the best I can be.”

Morrison sums up the interview by saying, “I hope to be one of those guys who has a strong presence in every genre of the entertainment world. I’ve kind of established myself on Broadway and on TV with Glee, and I’d eventually like to do some film work. I want to do it all. “I want to be the next Gene Kelly…Or the first Matt Morrison.”

We couldn’t have said it any better, we love Matthew Morrison he truly is a star and a great guy from our past interviews with him.

See a our first video interview we did with Matthew a few weeks before he hit the big time! And watch our recent video interview following Morrison’s success on Glee.
